What's the Point of Wales? - why go to the effort to sustain a Welsh nationality and create a Welsh state (as opposed to the territory called 'Wales' being a part, or divided, into a larger or even smaller states)? The purpose of a national state is to defend and promote the language unique to that nation - if it doesn't do that there's no point to that state as everything else can be offered by being part of another state or form or state. Siôn T. Jobbins reads the article from his anthology 'The Phenomenon of Welshness - or, How many Aircraft Carriers would an Independent Wales have?' based on the experience of the failed project to create a daily Welsh-language newspaper, Y Byd.
