Systems - in both ecology and society - undergo a process where they organize, become rigid, collapse, and reorganize. This process is the adaptive cycle, a key resilience concept and a cornerstone of panarchy theory (the topic of a future episode). In this episode, we discuss the phases of the adaptive cycle, visualize what it looks like, and discuss where we see the adaptive cycle in nature and human society.
