Dean and Jodie Schneitman are a married couple whose lives changed when Jody was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in December 2023. Rather than accepting the diagnosis – no effective treatment and 100% terminal - they chose another path — researching the disease, consulting with physicians and scientists, and making major changes to nutrition, exercise, sleep, metabolic health, and daily lifestyle.
Dean, a retired teacher, has approached the journey with the curiosity of an educator and the determination of a husband who wants to leave no rock unturned. Jodie has met the challenge with remarkable discipline, participating in the routines and interventions they have built into their everyday life while continuing to remain active and engaged.
Their journey has included a carnivore-based diet, regular exercise, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, sauna, CPAP-supported sleep, and other lifestyle and metabolic approaches, along with ongoing medical evaluation and consultation with specialists. They are careful to distinguish between what is established, what is experimental, and what they have simply observed in their own experience.
Their story gained a much wider audience after they appeared in a long-form interview with Dr. Anthony Chaffee, Kelly Hogan, and Dave Mac where they spoke openly about Jody’s diagnosis and the path they have taken since.
