Alex Cox and Rudy Wurlitzer, the team behind 1987's Walker, collaborated on two other screenplays that never got in front of a camera. The first, Body Parts, is a thriller about a Tucson cop who stumbles onto a conspiracy involving kidnapping and organ trafficking. The second, Zero Tolerance, follows a surreal journey to the Costa Rica-Nicaragua border where a rancher supplies Contras, breaks bread with the CIA and harnesses lightning into his body on a regular basis. These two previously unseen scripts have been published together in a new edition from Sticking Place Books.
We're joined by Alex Cox, along with the book's editor James Kenney, to discuss these unproduced yet unforgettable projects, following their real life inspirations and the wild additions of Rudy Wurlitzer. Cox, the revolutionary mind behind Repo Man and Sid & Nancy, reflects on where he was in his career at the time these were written and why they never made it onto the screen.
