"Markets love gridlock," says Ted Thatcher, making a bull case for equities no matter who takes the U.S. House and Senate. The biggest headwind he sees hitting the stock market is crude oil. Ted adds that energy volatility mounts pressure on a highly concentrated tech trade getting the biggest slice of the pie in earnings growth. As for Alphabet (GOOGL), Ted sees the Mag 7 giant as a value stock due to its lower valuation even as the company sees negative free cash flow. He makes a similar bull case for Microsoft (MSFT).
