Midterm elections take the attention of all Americans next week, and Charles Schwab's Mike Townsend sees results to shaping the stock market long-term. With the Democrats poised to take the House of Representatives, and potentially the U.S. Senate, Mike says the market "just wants the election to be over" so more certainty can outline a direction for future moves. However, he tells investors to keep an eye out for a "lame duck" session from Congress in the days following the election as a debt ceiling fight looms.
