1. It was a place that the British soldiers frequented when they took over NY during the revolutionary war and was a source of information to Washington and the army via spying.

2. It is the oldest barin NYC, and is still operational as a restaurant / tavern, serving 18th century fare, as well as a museum. 

3. It is the place where George Washington gave his farewell speach as general and turned power back to congress

4. It was used as a government building after the war and housed the original Foreign Affairs (State Dept), Dept of War, and Board of the Treasury.
