We return to our quick look at horror genre spoofs as we look at meta horror-comedy The Final Girls.

Still reeling from the tragic death of her mother, a teen finds herself magically transported to the slasher film that her mother starred in as a young adult. Released in 2015, The Final Girls features a well known cast of young actors and aims to riff on the classic camp slasher as well as try and tell a heartfelt story about grief and letting go.

But does the film deserve its cult status? Is this a perfect pairing of horror and comedy, or does it suffer from some uneven balance from trying to please fans of both?
