A little bit about Goel and some topics you can expect to hear about on today’s podcast:
Some people study the dark so they can name it. Goel walked into it so the people still living inside it would not have to stand there alone.
He is the independent researcher and reporter behind Investigations in Ritual Abuse including the archive at investigationsinritualabuse.com and his long-form work on Substack at 1830goel.substack.com. His stated mission is the unfiltered truth, with the David Lee Hamblin case at the center. Police reports, court filings, licensing records, Homeland Security materials, victim statements, and Gordon Bowen documents sit there not as rumor, but as a file anyone can read. He does not ask anyone to take his word for it - he asks them to read the file.
What he has built was never meant to make him famous. It was meant to make the truth harder to lose. Survivors had already told their stories to the people who were supposed to protect them. Too often those stories were set aside because the witnesses were wounded, sounded scrambled, or were considered to be inconvenient. Goel’s answer has been the opposite of that cowardice. He treats the wound as evidence of the harm, not as a reason to look away. He reads and listens with eyes to see and ears to hear until the shock burns off, he keeps the receipts, he puts the record where anyone can find it, and then stands in front of it and refuses to flinch. Relentless Hope, the nonprofit where he serves as Executive Director, turns that same refusal into something practical: offering counseling for survivors of sex trafficking and ritual abuse fully paid for - not merely promised.
Goel has been threatened, sued, accused of being controlled opposition, and nearly silenced by laws that punish the naming of a victim more readily than they punish the people who harmed the victim. None of it bought him. He says as much, with the dry humor of a man who knows the work he does will never pay like spectacle would. His price has never been met because the work was never for sale. The institutions had the binder and he built the archive - and that is a form of courage that does not photograph well and does not expire.
Today he will do what he has done for years in his investigations. He will put David Leavitt, David Hamblin, and Gordon Bowen back on the table, not as conspiracy and not as panic, but as names that appear in victim statements, police reports, depositions, and a prosecution that was allowed to collapse. The institutions had the binder and Goel built the archive. The survivors had already told the truth and he made sure the truth still had an address.
And despite everything he’s went through, he still stands. Not unbroken - but unbowed in the only way that counts. Pain did not make him look away, threats did not rename the truth, and the silence of the powerful never became his silence. For every survivor who was told they were too damaged to be believed, there stands a man who will not look away, a record that will not vanish, and a voice that still arrives no matter how devastating the story.
Goel left a light on in a room the world had agreed to forget, and he is still standing in the doorway, so that the next survivor who finds the courage to speak will not find the dark empty. This is how the lost are found, how the buried are lifted, and how the long night finally begins to end.
