Yakshagana is a popular folk dance drama from Karnataka. It is a night long performance traditionally performed by males only, including the female roles and has live music including 3-4 instruments. Costumes and wooden jewellery is all designed by the artist themselves.
We speak to Priyanka Mohan of Yakshadegula troupe that has been working on preserving the folk art form by not just performing but also innovating it for the current times.
