This lesson explores Richard Rohr’s idea that the first half of life is about “building the container”—developing our identity, relationships, career, values, and boundaries. These structures are necessary, but they are not the whole purpose of life. Life’s challenges, losses, and failures can crack the container and invite us to discover a deeper sense of self and spirituality. As we mature, we learn to “transcend and include” what we have built, moving beyond rigid thinking toward greater wisdom, compassion, and authenticity. The key message is that the first half builds the vessel; the second half discovers what it is meant to contain.
