Ryan walks through alternatives worth considering: small ship and river cruises (as few as 200 guests, exceptional service), American Cruise Lines for domestic itineraries, expedition cruises to places like Antarctica or the Galápagos, and private or semi-private yacht experiences. There's more variety in cruising than most people realize.
A Few Things to Know Before You Book
Prepaid gratuities and travel protection are typically added before you sail. Itineraries can shift and excursions can be canceled — a little flexibility goes a long way. And the more you share with your travel advisor, the easier it is to match you with the right ship, line, and timing.
