Nancy Meyers’ The Holiday is the kind of movie that knows exactly what it’s doing: it’s polished, sentimental, and very aware of its own charm. It’s not subtle, but that’s part of the appeal; the movie leans hard into comfort, fantasy, and neatly packaged romance, and for the right audience, that’s enough. What makes it stick is how easy it is to watch and how little it asks of you beyond showing up.
