Israeli passengers are being hailed as heroes after stopping an attempted plane hijacking on a flydubai flight carrying 174 passengers from Dubai to Tel Aviv.
According to the report, the co-pilot allegedly attacked and repeatedly stabbed the captain before attempting to take control of the aircraft. The plane then plunged more than 4,000 meters — roughly 13,000 feet — in about one minute.
Israeli passengers and off-duty pilots rushed into the cockpit and restrained the attacker. One passenger, Yaniv Hayun, helped pull the aircraft's nose up, while dentist Dr. Shota Musayev treated the wounded captain throughout the emergency.
The plane was diverted and landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, before the passengers were eventually flown back to Israel. Four passengers are being recommended for Israel's Presidential Award for Civilian Heroism.
The episode also covers President Trump's rejection of Iran's proposed broader deal involving the Strait of Hormuz, the reported possibility of renewed U.S. strikes on Iran, the death of a Hamas terrorist connected to the kidnapping of Noa Argamani and Avinatan Or on October 7, and a new report alleging that a Houthi weapons cell used Anthropic's Claude AI to develop missile guidance software.
Plus, the latest developments from Israel and the Middle East.
