In March 1993, Debra Kayla Entwistle was murdered in her home in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Her former common-law partner Leonard Neveu confessed, led investigators to her remains, and admitted in an Edmonton courtroom that he killed her. He refused to plead guilty to second degree murder. The Attorney General’s office rejected a plea to manslaughter because the evidence was too strong.

Parts of Debra have never been found.

In Part Two, we follow the case through the preliminary hearing, the trial, the verdict, and the sentence. We ask the question Debra’s family has lived with for over thirty years. What does justice look like for a crime like this, and did it ever come?

Stephanie Billard was thirteen when she took the stand as the main witness in her mother’s murder trial. In this exclusive interview, she talks about the letters Neveu wrote from custody, the trauma she still carries, and what it took to build a life after losing everything at twelve years old. Tammlyn Greening, one of Debra’s closest friends, shares her own account of what the years since have cost her.

This episode contains detailed descriptions of intimate partner violence, murder, and dismemberment.
