Someone recently told me my prices were outrageous.
And do you know what? It sparked a conversation that I think every woman running her own business needs to hear.
It all started with a free tarot reading on TikTok, and it got me thinking about how much power we still give to other people's opinions of our prices. Someone tells us they can't afford to work with us, or that we're too expensive, and suddenly we're questioning everything. Should we lower our prices? Offer something cheaper? Give them a discount? Perhaps we should make ourselves more accessible?
But here's the thing. Not everyone is going to be able to afford you. And that's okay.
In this week's episode of Soulful Badass, we're talking about money, pricing and why trying to make your business affordable for absolutely everybody can end up costing you far more than you realise.
I'm sharing why affordability is subjective, how our desire to help people can sometimes turn into overgiving, and why there's such an important difference between charging for your time and charging for the value, experience and transformation you bring to someone's life or business.
Because whether you're a coach, a tarot reader, a mentor, an artist or someone building an entirely different kind of business, people aren't simply buying an hour of your time. They're buying what that experience means to them, what they receive from it and the difference it can make.
And when you start looking at your pricing from that perspective, something changes. You stop feeling as though you have to justify every pound you charge, and you start recognising that the right clients don't need you to be the cheapest option. They need you to be the right person for them.
We're also exploring why higher prices can sometimes create a different level of commitment, why giving everything away isn't necessarily helping anybody, and how to build a business where your pricing supports both your clients and the life you actually want to live.
Because you didn't start your business to become the most affordable person in your industry. You started it to do incredible work and create success on your terms.
