A comedy Formula 1 podcast reviewing the 2026 British Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc’s Silverstone win, Ferrari’s front-running form, Verstappen’s rear wing disaster, safety car controversy, and the latest Max Verstappen to McLaren rumours.
Season 7 of The Monkey Seat continues, and for once George Russell didn’t actually win... yet Tom and Karl have bravely decided to podcast anyway. Don’t worry though, the system hasn’t completely broken. Russell finished second, just 0.427 seconds behind Charles Leclerc, and given the safety car chaos, FIA confusion, and general Silverstone silliness, we’re choosing to declare him the spiritual winner. The George Russell Podcast Activation System survives on a technicality.
This week, the boys review the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, where Leclerc took victory for Ferrari, Russell pushed him all the way, and Lewis Hamilton made it two Ferraris on the podium. Ferrari being good at Silverstone? Mercedes nearly winning? Red Bull breaking? Somehow, Formula 1 has become fan fiction.
There was also a sprint race win for Kimi Antonelli, who continues to look annoyingly talented, before his main race went rather less smoothly. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen’s race ended with what looked suspiciously like the same rear wing failure from Austria qualifying, because apparently Red Bull have decided reliability is optional if it keeps things spicy.
And then came the safety car finish.
Following the rule changes after the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix controversy, the race ended under safety car conditions. Simple enough, right? Obviously not. The FIA somehow managed to tell everyone the race was going to restart, triggering widespread confusion, paddock debate, fan arguments, and enough terrible rule-change suggestions to fill a Facebook comments section.
Tom and Karl also dive into the latest Max Verstappen to McLaren rumours, because no F1 podcast is complete without wildly speculating about a move that may or may not exist. Add in random UK geography, a few truly dreadful dad jokes, and the fact it was hotter than the devil’s armpit with Tom becoming increasingly moist, and you’ve got a classic Monkey Seat episode.
As always, expect Driver of the Day debates, Dick of the Day nominations, questionable opinions, unnecessary tangents, and two hosts who are still somehow less chaotic than the FIA race control room.
