There are certain local stories we love on Up+Adam, especially when entrepreneurship, family, and a little bit of “how did you even think of this?” all collide. Paso Robles father-daughter team Terry and Stella Gidcumb join Adam to talk about MVPee Portable Luxury Restrooms, a homegrown business bringing a seriously upgraded restroom experience to wineries, weddings, festivals, private parties, corporate events, and gatherings throughout the Central Coast.
The idea started with Terry, a longtime local welder whose years of working with wineries and building relationships around Paso helped him recognize an opportunity hiding in plain sight. Then Stella entered the picture. At just 21, still in college and beginning to figure out who she is beyond the athletic identity that defined so much of her younger life, she brought a completely different set of instincts to the company, especially in branding, marketing, social media, and understanding how her generation connects with a business. Together, Terry brings the experience, the local relationships, the hands-on work, and the original vision, while Stella is helping shape what the next version of MVPee can become.
Adam gets into the story behind MVPee, from Terry spotting the opportunity through local events, to Stella initially wondering whether her dad was seriously getting into the bathroom business, to both of them discovering just how much hospitality can live in the smallest details. Climate control, running water, mirrors, music, lighting, freshen-up stations, and a setup designed to feel much closer to walking into a nice indoor restroom than stepping into a typical portable toilet.
But the best part of the conversation is bigger than bathrooms. It is about a young woman discovering what comes after the thing that once defined her, a dad learning when to coach and when to trust his daughter as a business partner, and what can happen when two generations bring completely different strengths to the same idea. It is local entrepreneurship, Paso relationships, family, hustle, and one seriously clever name.
