POWERFUL EXAMPLE OF TORAH SCRIPTURE THAT TESTIFIES OF YESHUA WHO BEARS OUR SIN

(See Exod. 34:7 and 1 Pete. 2:24)

In this podcast we will learn that indeed the Torah in Hebrew testifies of Jesus just like He taught us in John's Gospel in John 5:39.  This is not apparent in English and so we miss it again!  Few will teach God's word in its historical context and check the Hebrew and not the English.  This podcast does and you'll see that the very word of God shows that the Torah testifies of Jesus in ways that are beyond powerful.

One of the first things we encountered in this lesson as what is called "The 13 Attributes of the Lord" that the rabbis came up with.  See the chart below from the website www.CalledOutBelievers.org of how the verese Exod. 34:6-8 show these 13 attributes of God.

Also, here's a link to an excellent article on the Jewish understanding of the 13 Attributes from "My Jewish Learning" - https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/the-13-attributes-of-mercy/

In Christianity we all understand sin as being intentional.  We don't say that someone who acted in error or inadvertently or by mistake, committed a sin.  Sin for Christian is intentional, done on purpose, or a deliberate action against God.  But, in the Bible there are two types of sin, UNINTENTIONAL and INTENTIONAL.  This is so clear when youstudy God's instruction on the Sin Offering in Leviticus 4.  Consider ...

Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, "Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'If a person sins unintentionally in any of the things which the LORD has commanded not to be done, and commits any of them, if the anointed priest sins so as to bring guilt on the people, then let him offer to the LORD a bull without defect as a sin offering for the sin he has committed. (Lev 4:1-3)

You can also read what God has to say about this in Numbers 15.

'But when you unwittingly fail and do not observe all these commandments, which the LORD has spoken to Moses, even all that the LORD has commanded you through Moses, from the day when the LORD gave commandment and onward throughout your generations, then it shall be, if it is done unintentionally, without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one bull for a burnt offering, as a soothing aroma to the LORD, with its grain offering and its drink offering, according to the ordinance, and one male goat for a sin offering. (Num 15:22-24)

The Sin Offering is thus only for cleansing UNINTENTIONAL sins and not sin as Christians know it, INTENTIONAL.

Jewish scholars agree that there is NO sacrifice or ritual in the Hebrew Scriptures, the Old Testament, to forgive intentional sin.  There are no number of goats and sheep that can be sacrificed to erase someone's intentional sin.  Here's an awesome article that goes into this big time.  This Jewish scholarly article thus supports our Christian understanding.  What would we expect?  It supports the reason why Jesus came.  He came to die so our sins (intentional) would be atoned for and we would regain a right standing with God.  The Sinai Covenant did not have such a sacrifice.  So Jesus came and provided the WAY back to the Father and He can therefore say He came and the Sinai Covenant, as Jesus said, "It is finished."  Check out the article.  https://www.jewfaq.org/qorbanot.htm#Purposes

In this lesson we focus on Exod. 34:7 where it says about God that He forgives inquity, transgression, and sin.  But, the word is not forgives but the Hebrew word NAHSAH (H5375) which has the conceptual idea of carrying a burden, bearing a load, lifiting something up, taking something away.  God is giving us an amazing picture of what forgiveness "looks like."  What is so awesome is that God, who is Jesus, since Jesus is only a face of the Lord (see lesson 75) carries our sin to a special place and to a special time.  He takes our sins to the His Cross.

Shown below are links to Bible lessons I have done that go into these ideas in depth.  I list them for your reference so that you can consider studying the very words of God and enhancing your understanding that the 13 Attributes of Yahvay are all about Him, Jesus, who is God, a manifestion of the Lord.
