Hazel Journey was three years old when she was murdered by her father's girlfriend in the fall of 2019. Hazel's Aunt Ashlee sits down with me, Tates, and Shayna from Light The Way to tell us how DCYF failed Hazel and continues to fail the children of Washington State. Ashlee changed her whole life, including her career path to be a voice and meaningful change in the overloaded broken system that failed her niece Hazel. Join us as we discuss how the system is failing, what changes are needed, What we have learned advocating for the voiceless, and our experience of being in the system and having to work within the system.
