Our William Castle season continues with a rare period piece, the gothic thriller Mr. Sardonicus (1961), in which a prominent physician in Victorian London travels to the Central European country of Gorslava in order to help his former fiancée and her new husband, the mysterious Baron Sardonicus, with a delicate problem. This entertaining chiller was promoted with a gimmick called "Punishment Poll", which let the audience vote about the antagonist's fate at the end of the movie -- MERCY or NO MERCY?
