1 IN 3 WOMEN will experience violence by a partner in their lifetime. Many of them won't realize it.
Maggy sits down with actress and model Nia Atasha (@sleepylllama) and Zaireen, a registered counsellor and services officer at AWAM, to talk about early warning signs of Intimate Partner Violence.
It could be as subtle as silent treatment used as punishment, jealousy disguised as love, and control dressed up as care.
Maggy and Nia also share their own experiences for the first time publicly.
In this episode you'll learn:
- What intimate partner violence (IPV) means
- The 9 early warning signs of IPV and why it’s not always physical
- The difference between a toxic relationship and an abusive one
- Why victims stay even when they know they need to leave
- How abusers normalise behaviour even unconsciously
- What victim blaming is and why it keeps people from speaking out
- How to support a friend who keeps going back to a toxic relationship
- What it takes to finally walk out, and what to do after
If this episode brought something up for you, you don't have to sit with it alone.
