Professor H.W. Brands is the Jack S. Blanton Sr. Chair in History at the University of Texas at Austin. He is the author of more than 30 books, including "The First American: The Life and Times of Benjamin Franklin", "Reagan: The Life", and "American Patriarch: The Life of George Washington."
