Listener Question for Today-
What are some ways to help a 3-year-old who cries for his mom during the first sessions of the year? How do you discern whether to keep trying such tactics as diversion, keeping the child close to you, etc., or to have the child wait a few weeks or months before returning to the atrium because he simply isn't ready? I've found this issue to be especially difficult when a crying child causes distress in other children nearby. Also, is it ever appropriate to have a parent present in the atrium with a child who is anxious about separating for any length of time?
