Get Good With MONEY, Build Wealth, and Live in Alignment with Tiffany "The Budgetnista" Aliche

Dela

Have you ever hit a number in your bank account you used to only dream about, and it still didn't feel like enough? Like the more you make, the more you worry? I've been there, and so has my guest this week. She's built an eight figure business, and she'll tell you straight up that money without peace is just a fancier kind of stress.

In this episode of The Happy Hustle Podcast, I sit down with Tiffany, known everywhere online as The Budgetnista. She's a New York Times bestselling author of Get Good With Money and Made Whole, an NAACP Image Award nominated financial educator, and the creator of the Get Good With Money Club, an online platform that's helped nearly 200,000 people get their finances together. She's also a financial coach on the Netflix documentary Get Smart With Money, and before any of that, she spent ten years as a preschool teacher. That last part matters more than you'd think, because it's exactly why she's so good at breaking money down in a way that actually makes sense.

This episode isn't just about budgeting. We get into how she built a community of over two million people, how she grew her business past eight figures with zero investors and zero debt, and the real tactics she uses to raise a credit score. But we also go somewhere a lot deeper. Tiffany lost her husband Jarrell suddenly in 2021, and she opens up about what that grief taught her about money, ambition, and what actually matters. If you've ever wondered whether chasing more is worth what it costs you, this conversation will hit home.

One of my favorite parts of this conversation is when Tiffany breaks down how she built her community. She talked about getting clear on exactly who you're for, giving your people something to do together, and creating a real space for them, not just another Facebook group nobody checks. She also dropped some of the best credit tips I've heard in a while. Thirty five percent of your credit score comes down to paying on time, and thirty percent comes down to how much of your available credit you're actually using. She even shared a trick her dad used on her back in college, adding her as an authorized user on a card he paid off in full every month so she could inherit his good credit behavior before she even had her own. Simple stuff, but most people never hear it explained this clearly.

We also talked about something I call the more disease, that endless chase for more money, more followers, more stuff, that never actually satisfies. Tiffany dropped one of my favorite lines of the whole episode, that money is a team sport and you're not supposed to go it alone. She talked about her rule of keeping a year's worth of savings as an entrepreneur, carrying zero debt, and only letting herself stress over things that are actually life or death. Most people treat every setback like an emergency. She's learned not to.

Then there's the part of the episode that really stuck with me. Tiffany talked about losing Jarrell to a brain aneurysm at just forty one years old, and how that loss changed the way she thinks about wealth completely. She stepped away from her business for almost a year and realized the team could run without her. When she came back, her ambition looked different. Gentler, but still just as real. She's not chasing revenue for the sake of it anymore. She's chasing alignment, and she still manages to bring in seven figures a year just from speaking, without an agent or even a speaking reel, just from people finding her and reaching out directly.

The last big lesson she left us with is one I think every happy hustler needs to hear. Gratefulness isn't just a nice idea, it's a practice that actually shifts what you notice and what shows up in your life. She used to keep a jar and write down moments of gratitude to read back on the hard days. Start your morning with it, end your night with it, and watch what changes.
When I asked her what happy hustling means to her, she said it best. Doing the thing you've been called and created to do, staying aligned while you do it, and making enough so your life actually looks the way you want it to. Good work, good people, good money. That's happy hustling.

This one is a masterclass in money, but really it's a masterclass in what money is actually for. Grab a notebook, because you're going to want to write some of this down.
