Frailty doesn't usually begin with a dramatic fall - it often starts with subtle changes that are easy to overlook, from slowing down when getting out of a chair to avoiding stairs or walking less.
Michelle Martin speaks with Associate Professor Tim Xu from the Singapore Institute of Technology about the early warning signs of frailty, why mobility loss is not an inevitable part of ageing, and what older adults and their families can do to maintain strength, balance and confidence.
They also discuss new research into SIT's 12-week "Say No to Frailty" programme, how community rehabilitation is helping seniors remain independent in their own homes, and the habits we should all adopt now to help us live longer and stronger.
