Dela

A powerful tropical storm is sweeping across Japan, bringing widespread disruption — from Okinawa to Kyushu — with reports of injuries, mass flight cancellations, power outages, and evacuation advisories affecting more than 800,000 people.

Now tracking toward Tokyo, Tropical Storm Jangmi raises growing concerns over flooding, transport breakdowns, and possible school closures in one of the world’s busiest cities.

How does Jangmi compare to past storms Japan has faced, and are extreme weather events becoming more frequent and severe globally? And what safety measures should you take if you ever find yourself caught in a typhoon?

On The Big Story, Hongbin Jeong speaks with Dr Wang Jingy, Assistant Professor, Humanities & Social Studies Education, National Institute of Education, to find out more.
