Family is messy. Genetics are messy. And sometimes the things we inherit have absolutely nothing to do with money. 😂

In this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, I’m talking about all the things our families pass down to us — our genes, health habits, traditions, stories, behaviors, personalities, and yes… sometimes a little generational baggage too.

I dive into how our family history can shape who we become, from the role genetics and environment play in our health to the surprising ways birth order may influence our personalities and family dynamics.

But here’s the part I really want to focus on: inheritance doesn’t have to equal destiny.

Just because something “runs in the family” doesn’t mean we have to sit back and accept every habit, pattern, or health trajectory that came before us. We can ask questions. We can learn our family history. We can make different choices. And sometimes, we can be the person who decides a generational cycle ends here.

I also talk about the good stuff we inherit — the traditions, stories, values, recipes, quirks, and connections that make our families ours. Because our legacy isn’t just what we leave behind someday. It’s what we’re modeling and passing along right now.

We’re talking about:

• Genetics vs. lifestyle and environment
• Health habits we inherit without realizing it
• Breaking unhealthy generational cycles
• Birth order and personality
• Family traditions, stories, and identity
• Modeling a healthy self-image for our kids
• Becoming proactive about our health
• The kind of legacy we actually want to leave behind

Because we may not get to choose what we inherited…but we do get a say in what we pass on.

And as always, even in family, health, life and everything in between keep it messy. ❤️
