The Toronto Maple Leafs pulled off a massive comeback.
Toronto erased a 3-0 deficit and a 4-2 deficit before Auston Matthews scored the overtime winner to cap a four-point night, as the Maple Leafs defeated the Nashville Predators 5-4.
Mike DiStefano and Dave Morassutti break down an incredible comeback victory and one of the best games of the season from Auston Matthews, who was a force all over the ice and delivered when the Leafs needed him most.
But the biggest breakout may have come from Gavin McKenna.
After going pointless through his first three NHL games, McKenna exploded against Nashville with his first career goal and first career assist. The rookie looked more confident as the game went on and finally showed the offensive ability that made him the first overall pick.
The guys also discuss:
Matthews' four-point performance and OT winner
McKenna's first NHL goal and breakout game
William Nylander's huge effort and game-winning sequence
John Tavares scoring his first of the season
Easton Cowan's continued strong play
Toronto's defensive struggles and the lineup blender
What the Leafs need to carry forward on their Western road trip
The Leafs are now 2-2 and finally have some momentum. Is this the game that gets Toronto's season moving in the right direction?
