In episode 12 we had the privilege of meeting Julia Bendis of @matchbyJulia! Not only is Julia a real life matchmaker (anyone looking for a soul mate?) she is also the author of “No Smiling Allowed” a book about growing up Jewish in the former Soviet Union. We were able to discuss with Julia:

  • Julia’s grandfather chopping off his finger to avoid the Red Army.
  • Russian use of urine to treat almost any medical condition.
  • The Russian version of Santa Claus and his “Snow Maiden”.
