In Session 6 of The Gifts of the Spirit: A Biblical Theology Series, we continue exploring the work of the Holy Spirit and the spiritual gifts within the life of the Church.
The gifts of the Spirit are not given for personal status, spiritual competition, or self-promotion. They are manifestations of God’s grace given for the common good, the edification of the Body of Christ, and the advancement of God’s mission in the world.
Throughout this series, we are seeking to approach the gifts biblically and theologically, rooting charismatic practice in Scripture while remaining open to the present activity and power of the Holy Spirit. Our desire at The Garden Fellowship is to become a people who are grounded in Scripture, formed by the Spirit, matured in love, and equipped to faithfully participate in the ministry of Jesus. “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” — 1 Corinthians 12:7
As we study the gifts, our goal is not simply to know what the gifts are, but to understand why God gives them, how they function within the Body, and how they ultimately point us toward Christ and the maturity of His people.
