The Texas Longhorns spark quarterback controversy as Arch Manning faces mounting pressure after back-to-back losses to unranked Oklahoma and Florida. With backup QB KJ Lacey earning more first-team reps and Steve Sarkisian publicly demanding improvement, will Manning hold onto the starting role, or is a seismic shift imminent in Austin’s offense? Finebaum calls for the backup, with dipping reports on Manning’s draft stock, while unrest grows in the Longhorns’ backfield amid Hollywood Smothers & Colin Simmons injury concerns.
Chris Gordy breaks down changing dynamics across the SEC, including Alabama’s offensive woes under Kalen DeBoer, Lane Kiffin’s insights on post-upset “letdown spots,” and critical injuries to key players like Colin Simmons, the nation’s sack leader. Guest Michael Shapiro of the Austin American-Statesman uncovers the inside story on Texas’s crumbling rush attack, offensive line struggles, and Sarkisian’s play-calling stubbornness. Can Texas right the ship against No. 7 Ole Miss, or is this season derailing for the preseason frontrunner?
