Darkness, the downward spiral, the sense you are drowning fighting to catch your breath before another huge wave of emotion or challenge hits you, this is the descent journey. And when all we are taught is that we are supposed to keep ascending through life, descending feels like flat out failure. But nothing could be further from the truth. If your soul has been presented with this option, it is because you are ready for a different kind of journey.

Despite my training in clinical psychology, despite years of personal growth work, despite every spiritual practice I'd picked up along the way, none of it prepared me for what happened when the tools that were supposed to be there, simply weren't.
