WWYD: how do I tell my best friend she won’t be my bridesmaid?

QUESTION #1: I have 3 best friends and a sister which makes choosing bridesmaids really difficult. I’d love to have all of them but having bridesmaids is very costly. How would you break it to a best friend that you won’t be having her as a bridesmaid?

QUESTION #2: I’ve recently become friends with my partner’s (straight, male) friend. My partner has mentioned a couple times that he feels at times uncomfortable with the dynamic. How do I navigate this without feeling like I’m being told who I can or can’t be friends with?
