In Episode 37 of "Talking MEWShop," Cinematographer Adolfo Veloso, ABC, AIP, shares insights into his craft, discussing his work on "Train Dreams" and "Queen at Sea." He elaborates on the challenges and creative decisions behind using natural light, particularly fire, for a film's nocturnal scenes. Veloso also touches upon the collaborative process with directors and the artistic choices made to visually translate abstract concepts like memory and dreams into cinematic language.

Brazilian-born cinematographer Adolpho Veloso, ABC, AIP, lensed the widely acclaimed and beloved film "Train Dreams" (2025), directed and written by Clint Bentley and released by Netflix.

Following "Train Dreams," Veloso served as cinematographer on M. Night Shyamalan’s "Remain" (scheduled for release in 2026) and on Lance Hammer’s "Queen at Sea" (2026), which premiered in competition at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival and helped earn the film the Silver Bear Jury Prize and acting honors for Tom Courtenay and Anna Calder-Marshall.

Veloso previously earned widespread recognition for his cinematography on "Jockey" (2021), also directed by Clint Bentley and starring Clifton Collins Jr., which received a Spotlight Award nomination from the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC).

He is a member of the Brazilian Cinematography Association (ABC) and the Portuguese Society of Cinematography (AIP). He is represented by CAA in the United States, Lux in Europe, and Aura in Latin America.
