A great car show is more than chrome and trophies, it’s a well-run day that makes you feel welcome and leaves your town better than it found it. We head to Friendswood with AJ Loupe from the Space City Corvette Club to talk about Good Grub and Gears, a Houston-area charity car show that’s open to all makes and models, packed with vendors and food, and set in the shade and walkways of Stevenson Park.

We also go deeper than the flyer. AJ explains how the club grew to hundreds of members, why their mission is where “passion and purpose meet,” and how they’ve focused their fundraising on Texas EquuSearch, a search and rescue organization that responds to missing-person cases and survives on donations. We talk about what it means to match cash gifts so supporters can double their impact, and why local charity support can hit harder than sending dollars far away.

Then we pivot into the pure car-nerd joy: AJ’s National Corvette Museum delivery story, what makes the spring Corvette-only show different, and the kind of rare early Corvettes and personal history that make you slow down and stare. We close with quick hits from automotive history and a calendar-style roundup of racing events and local shows.
