I created this guided sleep story several years ago, inspired by a place I have visited many, many times in my imagination.
I have dreamed of travelling through the Himalayas, walking the trails beneath those high peaks, spending time with the people who live there, and experiencing this extraordinary part of the world for myself.
The news and images from Nepal and Tibet have affected me deeply.
What makes this especially cruel is that almost all of those now suffering have done virtually nothing to cause the climate crisis. Yet they are paying the price for a world built on fossil fuels, relentless consumption and decades of failure to change course.
This crisis is not in the future. It is here. For millions of people around the world, it has already arrived at their door.
In this guided sleep story, you journey into the Himalayas in search of a wise man said to know the meaning of life. When you finally find him, his answer is simple: not to take, but to give. Life is precious, and every moment is a gift.
I find myself thinking of the monks, ascetics and holy people who have lived in these mountains for centuries, carrying knowledge and spiritual traditions from one generation to the next. When a glacier collapses, we lose more than lives, homes and landscapes. We lose centuries of knowledge, culture and spiritual wisdom. We lose part of our human inheritance.
And while this is happening, powerful men continue to wage wars over territory, wealth and control.
Almost all of us want the same things. Peace. To love and be loved. To know that our families are safe and our children have a future. We want clean water, living forests, wild places and a healthy planet. These are not political desires. They are human ones.

And please do whatever you can, however small it may seem, to help mitigate the climate crisis. We cannot undo what has already been lost, but that must not be a reason to stop fighting for what remains.
We belong to this Earth. We do not own it.
