US President Donald Trump said Israel and Hezbollah agreed to stop attacking each other in Lebanon and that talks with Iran were continuing after fresh violence threatened negotiations to end the Middle East conflict.

Trump said he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and representatives
from Hezbollah, which the US considers a terrorist group, in separate phone calls.

“There will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back,” Trump said Monday in a social media post. “I had a very good call with Hezbollah, and they agreed that all shooting will stop — That Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel.”
