Some of the most valuable knowledge in American manufacturing isn't stored in computers. It's in the heads of longtime factory workers who know exactly what to do when something goes wrong. And many of those workers are approaching retirement.
Sabrina Paseman, a former Apple engineer who helped develop the MacBook, is now a general partner at Omni Ventures, investing in startups that bring artificial intelligence to manufacturing. She joins Scott McGrew to explain why factory floors remain surprisingly low-tech, how AI could capture decades of expertise before it disappears, and why manufacturers are often reluctant to adopt new software even when it could make them more profitable.
