I am sharing the origin story of how I became a medium and it starts with a latchkey kid coming home from school in the 1990s, turning on the TV, and watching Sylvia Browne on Montel Williams for the very first time.
Sylvia Browne was my unofficial theology growing up. I had no religion, no framework, just her on Montel every Wednesday. In this episode I talk about what she meant to me as a teenager, the letter to the universe exercise from The Other Side and Back that genuinely changed my life, and what it felt like to reconnect with her clips during the pandemic and see everything through a completely different lens.
I cover:
How Sylvia sparked a decades long path to mediumship
My time with Vancouver Paranormal, EVP recordings, and my first passport trip to Chillingham Castle
The letter to the universe exercise and what happened the moment I finished writing it
A balanced look at her legacy: trailblazer and cautionary tale
How the ethics and trauma informed approach I teach today came directly from what was missing in that era
And I want to know: was Sylvia Browne part of your origin story too?
Follow @teiganish on Instagram for the Sylvia Browne clips I reference in this episode. The t-shirt I am wearing is from him too and shirts will be available later this year.
