There is a name for a new behavior called “Kittenfishing.” This is a term used with people on dating apps who fudge on telling the truth so they will appear better. Kittenfishing makes you feel like it’s okay to add an inch or two to your height and maybe say that you studied at a prestigious university when you only walked through the library. Kittenfishing is especially good at putting your picture on a dating app that’s several years old. The interesting thing about Kittenfishing is that it will always have bad consequences. At some point if you make progress in getting a date with a person, they will soon discover that you are not truthful. Kittenfishing may gloss over the situation initially, but eventually the truth will sting and bring not so pleasant consequences. Tell the truth.
