Can the Knicks afford to keep their championship core together?
ESPN NBA Front Office Insider Bobby Marks joins CP The Fanchise to break down the New York Knicks' second apron restrictions and Karl-Anthony Towns' contract extension negotiations.
With Towns eligible for an extension worth up to $276 million, James Dolan's reluctance to exceed the second apron presents a major challenge for Leon Rose and the Knicks front office.
Bobby explains why the 2028-29 season could be the real financial breaking point, with Jalen Brunson's next contract potentially pushing the Knicks into difficult decisions involving Josh Hart and Miles McBride.
Plus, Bobby outlines a creative contract structure that could help New York retain Towns, discusses the possibility of losing Deuce McBride in free agency, and examines Pacôme Dadiet's future and the competition for the Knicks' final roster spots.
The conversation also goes around the NBA, covering LaMelo Ball's fit alongside Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton's return, Anthony Davis' contract future and early NBA preseason impressions.
Can the Knicks protect their championship window while navigating the NBA's new salary cap restrictions?
