Truth Wanted 9.28 with ObjectivelyDan and Volcy

Dela

In today's episode of Truth Wanted, ObjectivelyDan and Volcy explore deconstruction journeys, evidence-based thinking, and whether nature or cultural impact can justify God claims.

Jon in Canada argues that nature itself is God through a naturalistic pantheist lens, combining Spinoza's philosophy with emergent consciousness. The hosts challenge why the God label is necessary at all. If you're just describing natural phenomena, why add the baggage of a term loaded with supernatural connotations? What does calling nature "God" add to our understanding that simply studying nature doesn't already provide? When you strip away all the traditional attributes of God, what's left that justifies using the word?

Antonio in TX argues that God is real because of religion's massive cultural impact on society. The hosts counter that impactful ideas aren't necessarily true or good. Slavery had cultural impact. Harmful religious influences on policy and rights demonstrate that widespread belief doesn't equal truth. If cultural impact made something real, would that make every influential myth throughout history real? What's the difference between something being culturally significant and something being actually true?
