The Coldcard investigation centers on a first theft wave involving 1,082.65 BTC, with researchers saying information tied to a paid blockchain-data account may help authorities identify the attacker. No FBI announcement has confirmed an identity, arrest, charges, or recovery.

Trump also urged lawmakers to pass the CLARITY Act, now expected to receive a Senate vote in September, and said he would listen to recommendations regarding additional government bitcoin accumulation.

Citi says its new Custody+ platform is expected to launch later this year with bitcoin as its first supported digital asset.

On payments, Bitcoin.com is adding the UAE central bank-registered USDU stablecoin to its self-custodial wallet, while X is reportedly exploring stablecoins for creator payouts.

OpenLedger’s Ram Kumar argues that payments could become crypto’s first major AI-agent use case because autonomous agents cannot open conventional bank accounts or complete KYC themselves.

Maya Protocol also halted MAYAChain after an exploit involving six software flaws drained roughly $1.7 million in bitcoin and other assets, including about 20 BTC.
