French collective Nouvelle Vague are set to return to Australia for three exclusive shows, bringing their unmistakable reimaginings of iconic new wave and post-punk classics back to local audiences.For singers Melanie Pain and Phoebe Kilde, the upcoming dates offer an opportunity to experience the band in a different setting, with intimate club performances promising a more rock ’n’ roll atmosphere than their previous Australian appearances.“We’ve been doing festivals, big outdoor afternoon events,” Pain explained. “I’m really glad we’re coming and doing proper night gigs in proper clubs.”With an impressive catalogue of interpretations spanning artists including Joy Division, The Cure, The Clash and Depeche Mode, Nouvelle Vague have built a reputation for transforming familiar songs into something entirely their own.
