308# The kelly–hopkinsville encounter | The night the goblins came
The night the goblins came knocking...
In August 1955, a quiet farmhouse in rural Kentucky became the centre of one of the strangest encounters in UFO history.
For nearly four hours, a family claimed they were under attack from mysterious little creatures appearing at the windows and doors. Shots were fired. Police were called. And when officers arrived, they found plenty of evidence that something very strange had happened — but no creatures.
Were they extraterrestrials? Great horned owls? A terrifying case of mistaken identity? Or something even stranger?
This week on Never A Straight Answer, we head to Kelly, Kentucky, and revisit the bizarre story of the Kelly–Hopkinsville Goblins — one of the most famous close encounters of the 1950s.
Because sometimes... the things knocking at your window aren't there to sell you double glazing.
