Is gaining weight really the worst thing that can happen?

Obviously, there are a million worse things. But for me, the answer is still kind of yes—and not because of the number on the scale.

At my highest weight, the biggest loss wasn’t clothing size or how I looked. It was my quality of life. My anxiety got worse. I dealt with agoraphobia and depression. I avoided things, sat on the sidelines, and slowly made my world smaller.

After gaining a few pounds back this summer, I had a wake-up call. I’m nowhere near where I was, but I also know I never want to go back to living that way.

This episode is about what weight gain can quietly take from you—and why I’m choosing to stop that slide now.
