Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus were powerful members of the Jewish council who believed in Jesus but kept it hidden out of fear. After Jesus died, something changed: Joseph boldly asked Pontius Pilate for Jesus's body, and together the two men wrapped Him in linen and spices and laid Him in Joseph's own tomb — the first public, costly act of faith either man had ever made.
