In this special October crossover episode, our good friend Brandon from Southern Gothic joins us from the Manchac Swamp to separate swamp legends from real history.
In September 1915, a violent hurricane hit Southeast Louisiana, killing nearly 375 people, destroying entire towns, and wiping the small farming community of Frenier off the map. In the disaster's wake, a story spread among locals that the curse of Julia Brown, a local Voodoo priestess, brought on the terrible storm.
Brandon tells us about Julia Brown's real life, the tragic story of the 1915 hurricane, and how a devastating disaster became one of the South's most famous ghost stories.
