We can be so hard on ourselves (and others) when we don’t understand why we behave the way we do (“After all, if I know better, shouldn’t I just do better?”). When we see reframing behaviors as an opportunity to examine the needs that might underlie our actions, then we can start to understand ourselves or others differently. Our behaviors have a purpose (even if we can’t see it right away) and a bit of inquiry can help us to see what’s really going on.
